DUPLICATE TITLE &
REPLACEMENT SERVICES
Whether your title has been lost, your registration card or stickers need to be replaced, or you need substitute damaged, lost or stolen tags, the information below will help you determine which replacement service best fits your situation and what documents may be required to complete your transaction.
The Maryland MVA and the Pennsylvania DMV have authorized Diversified Tag & Title Services to perform the motor vehicle services listed below on-site for cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers of any size when used in commercial fleets, sold at dealerships and for personal use.
DUPLICATE TITLE
Whether your title has been lost, damaged, assigned incorrectly or never received, Diversified Tag & Title Services can assist with duplicate title and replacement registration services for cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers of any size for personal use, commercial fleets and dealership transactions.
A DUPLICATE TITLE MAY BE REQUESTED WHEN:
- The title has been lost, destroyed, altered, or mutilated.
- The lien has been satisfied [paid off].
- The title has been assigned to the wrong owner(s).
- The motor vehicle and/or trailer was previously titled in Maryland and is returning to Maryland from another state and ownership never changed.
WHAT IF THE TITLE INFORMATION IS INCORRECT?
- A corrected title may be requested.
- The MVA form VR-448 will need to be completed.
HOW DO I REQUEST A DUPLICATE TITLE?
Complete and submit an MVA VR-018 Application for Duplicate Title form and submit your properly completed and signed application for duplicate title at any of the options provided below. The duplicate title will be sent to the address on record at the MVA.
- An Authorized Tag and Title Service,
- In Person at Any Of The MVA’s Full-Service Branch,
- At a KIOSK Located Inside of All Full Service And Express MVA’s,
- Through The Mail to the Glen Burnie Headquarters MVA Branch,
- Online Through The MVA’s Website.
- Personal and/or Business Portal
WHO CAN REQUEST A DUPLICATE TITLE?
The owner, co-owner and/or lienholder on the front of the title may apply for a duplicate title. However, under certain circumstances, an authorized representative of the owner may obtain a duplicate title. Depending on the reasons for requesting a duplicate title, one or more of the items listed below may be required:
- An Updated Driver’s License,
- An Updated Identification Card,
- An Original Death Certificate,
- An Original Letter Of Administration
Authorizes Representative To Act On Behalf Of The Deceased Owner, - An Original Trustee Appointment Order
Authorizing A Trustee To Act On Behalf Of A Trust [Issued By Court], - Power Of Attorney
Authorizes Representative To Apply For A Duplicate Title [MVA Form VR-470] - The Duplicate Title Is Mailed To the Owner’s Address on Record at the MVA.
WHAT IF I NEVER RECIEVED MY TITLE?
- If the original title or the duplicate title was never received, an MVA form VR-091 notifying the MVA must be submitted within 90 days to receive a replacement issued at no charge.
- Requests made after 90 days, a fee will be imposed.
REPLACEMENT TAGS / REG CARD
If your license plates, your registration stickers or your registration card have been lost, stolen, damaged or need to be replaced, Diversified Tag & Title Services can provide our customers with replacement and/or substitute tags, registration and/or stickers.
WHEN TO REQUEST A NEW TAG OR STICKER
- Your vehicle’s original license plates and/or stickers are lost, stolen or damaged and you want to replace them with license plates of the same type and expiration date.
- Substitute standard tags with Chesapeake Bay, Agriculture, Personalized/Vanity, Military, Ham Radio or Organizational license plates.
- A duplicate or additional Registration Card only
- Replace a Moped, Scooter or Off-Road motor vehicle ORV sticker
HOW TO REQUEST A NEW TAG OR STICKER
Complete and submit an MVA VR-009 Application for substitute tags/stickers form and submit at any of the options provided below. It will sent to the address on record at the MVA.

- In person at any of the MVA’s full-service branch,
- At a KIOSK located in all full service and Express Service MVA’s,
- Through the mail at the Glen Burnie Headquarters branch,
- Online through the MVA’s website.
